Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Is one method better than another for teaching my child to swallow pills?
A:
There is no one “best” technique to teach a child how to swallow pills and capsules. Many different techniques have been tried and tested. Every child is different. You might have to try different methods until you find the one that works best for your child.

Q: If I think my child needs a behavioral therapist to overcome a fear of pill swallowing, where can I look?
A:
Your best bet is to discuss this with your child’s health care provider. He or she can provide a referral to the appropriate therapist.

Q: Nothing works! What can I do?
A:
If you’ve tried everything and still no luck, don’t push it. Come back to it in three to six months and then try again.
